The metadata download generates and downloads an Excel file with the template of the selected set of objects, regardless of their status. All objects must be of the same subtype, so that they share a single template.
Availability
The download is available for all object subtypes except DATASET_FIELD: to obtain the metadata of dataset fields you need to download that of their dataset.
How to download the metadata
The download is performed from the workspace following these steps:

Filter by an object subtype (required). This is the step that enables the "Select bulk action" filter; without it, it is not possible to choose the action to perform next.

Select the "Metadata download" action in the "Select bulk action" filter. Doing so enables the checkboxes to select the objects whose metadata you want to download.

Apply search and filtering criteria (optional), if you need to locate specific objects to work with.

Select the objects using the corresponding checkbox. As soon as you check one, the "Download file" button is enabled. The total number of selected objects is shown in the bottom right, next to the download button; if that total does not match your selection, check the applied filters.
The download may take a considerable amount of time depending on the size of the selection, since the Excel file is generated including all the information needed about the templates (metadata reference values, users, validations, etc.).
File format
The downloaded Excel file has the same format as the one generated when downloading the metadata of a single object. Its details are described in Objects > Actions on objects > Metadata download.
Limitations
To avoid impacting processing performance, it is recommended not to exceed 5000 objects per file. When downloading datasets together with their dataset fields, the total number of entities in the Excel file (datasets + dataset fields) must also not exceed 5000. If you need to download more than 5000 entities or relationships, do so in several files.
