The Notifications icon allows the user to access the panel of unread notifications. The red dot on the icon indicates that the user has a notification pending to be read or responded to.
There are three types of notifications:
-
Alert: A communication about a pending interaction required from a user in a particular role, for example, the review of a workflow validation step.
-
Administration alert: A notification communicating an issue in Anjana's automations with data systems that needs to be resolved manually to restore data consistency. For example: the table could not be created automatically at the end of a dataset creation workflow, and the user must run the query to create it.
-
Notice: A communication informing the user of an action of interest to them, for example, a notification that a workflow they launched has been approved.
By clicking on the “Go to workflow detail” link of an alert in this panel, the user will be redirected to the screen where their approval or rejection is requested. Once the workflow is validated, the notification will disappear from the panel.
However, to read a notice or an administration alert, the user must click on the “Mark as read” link of the notification in the panel so that it is marked as read and therefore disappears from the list of notifications pending to be read.
By clicking on the “Notifications” panel title link, the user can access the notifications panel, where both read and unread alerts and notices are displayed.
From this screen, the user can view the following for each notification:
-
Object: Icon, name and PK of the object for which the notification was generated
-
Notification type: Icon indicating whether it is an alert, administration alert, or a notice.
-
Date: Date on which the notification was generated
-
Message: Information related to the notification
Additionally, to the left of each unread notice or administration alert, a checkbox is available to select one or more notifications and mark them as read. This is not possible for alerts alone, since these must be responded to (accepting or rejecting a workflow validation, for example) in order to be marked as read and therefore disappear from the pending notifications panel.
On the right side of each notification, the user can individually “Mark as read” or “Navigate to workflow”.
At the top of this screen, filters help narrow the search of notifications to distinguish between read and unread, by notification type, reception date, or name and subtype of the related object.
